Yiannis Moralis is the Mayor of Piraeus Municipality since September 2014. He is the longest-serving Mayor in the modern history of Piraeus, from 1974 onwards, having been elected three consecutive times.

In the elections of October 2023, he gathered a percentage of 69.88% and he was elected Mayor from the first round.

He was born in 1968. He is the son of the late Petros Moralis, who was founding member of “PA.SO.K.” political party and served as Deputy Minister of Labour, so as of Education. His mother is Haritini Morali. He is married to Valia Kiriazis and they have two children, Petros and Yolanda.

He studied Economics at the University of Piraeus. He began his career at the age of 22. He worked as a Sports Marketing and Communications consultant.

Through the past 30 years, he has assumed executive positions of great responsibility within OLYMPIACOS F.C. In 2011 he became the Vice President and General Manager of the Club, a year later he was elected Chairman of the Greek Football Clubs League “Super League” and from 2017 until early 2021 he served as President of OLYMPIACOS FC. Today he is Vice-President of the Club.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of Piraeus Port Authority and VicePresident of the Society for the Protection of Minors (Piraeus).

As the city’s Mayor he is also the President of the Board of Directors of Zahariou Foundation.
